Privacy statement
The Sociaal Actieve Burgerpartij (SAB) of Maastricht believes you should know what happens to your details when you approach us. This statement sets that out as plainly as we can. It covers this website; the last section covers the people who help you through the help desk.
Last updated 8 October 2026.
Who processes your details
Sociaal Actieve Burgerpartij (SAB), based in Maastricht, is responsible for processing your details. You can reach us at info@sab-maastricht.nl. SAB is a small local party and has no data protection officer; your question goes to the party group directly.
What we ask for
This site has three forms. All three ask for as little as possible. Only the field we can reach you on is required — you may leave your name out.
- Help desk — your name (optional), a phone number or email address, and your question. We use this only to help you with the question you are asking.
- Get involved — your name (optional), a phone number or email address, and what suits you: becoming a member, volunteering, or a conversation first. We use this to contact you about your registration.
- Contact — your name (optional), a phone number or email address, and your message. We use this to answer you.
We do not ask for your address, date of birth, citizen service number or income. If your question needs those, we will discuss it in person — please do not put them in the form.
Details about your political views
If you sign up as a member or a volunteer, that says something about your political views. The law calls this a special category of personal data and gives it extra protection. We process it solely because you give it to us yourself and explicitly agree to this when you submit the form, and only to handle your registration. We share it with no one outside SAB, and we do not link it to any help desk question.
If you want help from the help desk without it being read as a political preference, that is entirely possible. The help desk is open to everyone in Maastricht, regardless of whether or how you vote. Your question is never used to recruit members.
What happens to your message next
A submitted form goes two ways. It is stored encrypted in this website’s database (AES-256), where only logged-in SAB administrators can read it. The party group also receives an email with the content, so we can answer you quickly.
The website keeps submissions for twelve months and then deletes them automatically and permanently. The email in our mailbox is not covered by that; we clear those by hand once your question has been dealt with. If you ask us to delete your details, we remove both.
Who we share your details with
No one, unless you ask us to. We sell nothing, we do not trade mailing lists, and we do not pass what you fill in on a form to advertising or analytics companies.
Two parties do unavoidably see your details, because they run our technology. Cloudways manages the server this website runs on, and Resend sends our email — so the message the group receives from a form passes through that service. Resend processes it in Ireland, within the European Union. Both may use your details only to provide that service and for nothing else.
If we take a question further with the council, a housing association or another body, we do so only with your permission and only with what is needed for it. We tell you beforehand what we are passing on and to whom.
Cookies and tracking
On your first visit, a cookie notice asks whether we may measure how the site is used. If you consent, we use Google Analytics (through Google Tag Manager) to count how many people visit the site, which pages they read, and whether a question was sent through the help desk, the contact form or a report form. What you fill in on a form is never sent to Google, and we do not report sign-ups through Get involved at all. For this, Google Analytics places the cookies _ga and _ga_*, which last up to two years.
With the same consent, we use Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation) to see where visitors click and scroll, through heatmaps and session recordings. This shows us where the site is unclear. Clarity does not record anything you fill in on a form, and numbers and email addresses on the page are masked. We do not load Clarity on the Get involved page at all. Clarity places the cookies _clck (1 year) and _clsk (1 day). The data is stored in Microsoft’s cloud (Azure) and may be processed in the United States; Microsoft is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Session recordings are kept for 30 days, a small selection for up to 9 months.
As long as you have not made a choice, and if you decline, we place no analytics cookies and nothing is sent to Google or Microsoft. You can change your choice at any time using the cookie button at the bottom left of the page.
Beyond that, this website places no cookies to track you: no Facebook pixel and no advertising cookies. The typefaces are hosted on our own server. The videos on this site are hosted on our own server too: they do not come from YouTube or Vimeo, they only start when you click them, and so they report your visit to no one. Nor are there embedded maps watching along.
Always present is a cookie that remembers your choice in the cookie notice, so you are not asked again every time. And if you log in as an administrator, WordPress sets the cookies needed for that.
The share buttons below articles are ordinary links to Facebook and WhatsApp. They load nothing from those companies until you click them yourself.
Our hosting company does keep technical log files containing IP addresses, as every web server does. These are needed for security and fault analysis, and the website itself does nothing with them.
Your rights
You may ask us what details we hold about you, have them corrected, have them deleted, or have their use restricted. You may object to the processing, and you may withdraw permission you gave at any time — this has no bearing on the help you receive from us.
Send your request to info@sab-maastricht.nl. We reply within four weeks. To avoid handing details to the wrong person, we may ask you to identify yourself.
If you disagree with how we handle your details, we would rather hear it from you first. You also always have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
If this statement changes
If anything changes in how we handle data, we update this page and put a new date at the top. Major changes are announced in the news overview.
