Care and taking part
Help with letters and official bodies in Maastricht
A letter you do not understand, a form that will not work, or an organisation that does not respond. In Maastricht there are several places where you can get help free of charge.
A letter from the council you have to read three times. A form asking for details you cannot find anywhere. An organisation that refers you to another organisation. It happens to far more people than you would think, and there is help — free, and in several places in the city.
Digital Government Information Point
The Digital Government Information Point is at Centre Céramique. They think along with you, work out where you need to be, and will arrange an appointment with an organisation that can take it further.
- Free, even if you are not a library member
- In the hall of Centre Céramique, Wednesday to Friday from 13.00 to 17.00
- Also at De Rink (Zoetmanstraat 75, Caberg) on Tuesdays from 13.00 to 17.00
- Appointments through the public service desk: 043 350 5600 or publieksservice@maastricht.nl
There are also regular sessions from DUO, the SVB and the credit bank, and free help with your tax return.
Help with forms
If you do not understand a letter or a form, you can turn to the Humanitas forms brigade. That is free and you need not be a member of anything. Also for reading a medicine leaflet or filling in your tax return.
The Social Team in your neighbourhood
If it goes beyond a single letter — money worries, loneliness, trouble at home — the Social Team in your neighbourhood is the place. Maastricht has eight, each covering its own area.
Reachable through sociaalteammaastricht.nl or by phone on 14 043.
SAB’s help desk
We help too. Free, for every resident of Maastricht, and without you having to be a member or vote for us. We read letters with you, help with forms, work out which body you need, and come along where that helps.
And when something goes wrong structurally — when more people get stuck on the same thing — we take it to the council. That is the difference between helping someone and changing something.
