Scholarship student’s claims of involvement in the 7 October 2023 attack
What was going on
An international scholarship student at Maastricht University is said to have boasted to others about involvement in the attack of 7 October 2023 in Israel, in which 1,200 people were killed. Whether or not that is true, such claims affect safety, social cohesion and trust in the city.
What SAB did
SAB councillor Jos Gorren has put the matter to the mayor and aldermen. SAB is asking for clarity: what does the city know about this, and what is being done together with the university and the police?
The outcome
No answer yet. SAB wants this to be looked into seriously, so that everyone in Maastricht feels safe. As soon as there is an answer, you will hear it from us.

Whether those claims are true has not been established. But they are so serious that they cannot simply be left aside. They affect safety, social cohesion and trust in our city. That is why SAB councillor Jos Gorren has raised the matter with the city executive.
We want to know what is happening now. As soon as there is an answer, you will hear it from us.
