Storm Boelo brings strong gusts to Maastricht

After storm Austen caused damage across Limburg, a new storm is approaching. Storm Boelo may bring strong wind gusts, up to 100 kilometers per hour. The higher parts of the Heuvelland area near Maastricht could be hit hardest.

What is happening?

On Friday evening, storm Austen already caused significant damage in Limburg. In Maastricht, fallen trees damaged cars and caused damage at the municipal cemetery. Elsewhere in the province, someone was injured by a fallen tree in Nuth, a tree fell on a roof in Nederweert, and roads were blocked in the north of Limburg.

Now storm Boelo is expected. This storm brings wind gusts of 75 to 100 kilometers per hour, especially in the higher parts of the Heuvelland area. Many trees are still full of leaves and were already weakened by the previous storm, so there is a high chance that more branches will break or trees will fall. The Dutch weather service KNMI warns of traffic disruption caused by fallen branches.
